Journal of John Hooke Chapter 13
September 6,
We leave from the harbor it is misty from the morning fog the waves are calm was boat was smooth sailing. For awhile most of the sailors were getting the sea sickness. I was quite discusted by everyone vomited because i got weird things on me from all of the vometing I was not afraid to go on this voyage but I could tell that some of the sailors were. I was more excited than scared because I could find gold and would live by me own rules.
The cabins we lived in were the smallest cabins I ever been in, there was no room for me. I always was in the cabins day in and day out, always dark in the cabins. I was surprised about how many men, women, and children came to the new world. I slept with two men and a child which was truly a pain to fit four people in one small bed you try doin' that.
September 8,
A great rain storm has the May flower the waves are tombling and the the thunder was roaring. Water has brushed across the deck sweeping people off their feet. Many of the men stayed somewhat calm in this great storm. I, on the other hand, was panicing like a chicken getting its head choped off.
November 8,
I was in the middle on nowhere with a bunch of random strangers trying to get the new world. It is very sunny outside the deck is nice and hot but the crows nest I think is the best place to be, no one bosses you around, no worries. The men on it were still there mean grumpy old selves.
December 12,
We finaly arived im am so happy the ground is soft ,but in the distance I saw a a creature ..... a black creature with feathers and weopons .... it was moving in an unusual way almost an animal like way .... I tryed to warn the others but no one would answer. They would get closer and closer until they were sounding a noise a beautiful noise but I knew I could never let my gard down. This might be one of my last journal writes.
